Portrait of Peter Poole.

An accomplished artist, writer, and all-round kind soul

PeterPooleart

A memorial archive for Peter Poole, bringing together his paintings, films, comics, graphic design, 3D crafts, biography and public art commissions. Peter was sadly lost to the world after a hard fought battle with cancer in March 2026, but his work and spirit live on.

The site traces the breadth of his work across studio practice, film, visual storytelling and large public trail commissions within one shared archive.

Peter Poole created artwork that blended realistic elements with imaginative ideas, including still life, landscape and urban scenes. He designed backdrops for a children's theatre company, made films from the late 1980s onwards, and worked on many Wild in Art projects since 2013.

His practice also included writing short stories and plays, with public readings of his work at the Sussex Playwrights’ Club and Brighton Fringe. Selected films were later digitised through Screen Archive South East and surfaced again on the Cineminiatures, while later shorts also reached Latest TV and BBC Radio Devon. Alongside his creative work, Peter was involved in environmental campaigns and later worked in the charity and voluntary sector, including flexible support work with the Grace Eyre Foundation in Brighton.
