The world of Stray Machines

Salvage.
Survival.
Strange machines.

A salvage mission. A hostile world. Something stirring in the machinery. Enter Peter Poole's handmade science-fiction universe of scavengers, spacecraft and strange mechanical life.

Built through models, miniature sets and live-action filmmaking, this is a world shaped by hand and imagination. Originally known as Scavengers, the project grew from ideas Peter first explored in 1987, with its main live-action filming completed in 2008.

Peter's world.
A continuing story.

Peter left Stray Machines unfinished. His brother Martin is bringing the surviving material together as a tribute to his creativity, making the film available for others to discover.

This new assembly is an interpretation of the footage Peter left behind. The accompanying archive films will offer a closer look at his process, his original plans and the choices involved in bringing the story to the screen.
